Roughly two and a half years ago, Gameloft released the third installment of their somewhat halo inspired N.O.V.A series. Since then, there have been some minor updates, but other than that it seems as though the series has pretty much been shelved. That is until now, as Gameloft is making an effort to breathe life into NOVA once again, with the release of NOVA 3: Freedom Edition. For those who are big fans of this series, don’t get too excited — there’s no new content here, just a free version of the same game, which is priced $5.99 for the regular version.
Gameloft's popular FPS N.O.V.A. 3: Freedom Edition is available to download for free on Android devices without any in-app purchases on Google Play Store.
The Freedom Edition isn’t just a demo either, it’s the exact same as the original, except there are advertisements. Of course, there are IAPs as well, but these were also available in the paid version of the game. You can download it from the Apple App Store right now, and there is supposed to be an Android version coming soon as well — although, we’re not sure exactly when. I’d imagine Gameloft won’t spend too much time on this, so you can probably expect to see it in the next few days.
Honestly, this is something I think a lot more developers need to start doing. I don’t know the exact numbers, but I’d assume that games that are over two years old with a $5+ price tag aren’t selling too well. Going free opens up the door to new players, with a strong chance of them buying IAPs since it’s a free to play game.
